There are 5.5 million Chinese Americans in the US. Over 750,000 are seniors age 65 and older — and two-thirds of them have limited English proficiency. Existing technology was never built for them. PéiNín Foundation is changing that.

Chinese American seniors are one of the fastest-growing and most underserved populations in the United States. The technology gap they face is not a minor inconvenience — it is a health equity crisis.
Siri, Alexa, Google — all English-first. For Mandarin and Cantonese-speaking seniors, every interaction with technology is a barrier. Asking for directions, reading a medication label, reaching emergency services — all become impossible without fluent English.
Language exclusion leads directly to social isolation. PéiNín Foundation was founded by Chinese Americans who lived this problem firsthand. We watched our own family members — grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles — struggle with isolation, language barriers, and the quiet fear of being unreachable in an emergency. We knew the technology to help them existed. We also knew no one had built it for them.
We are technologists, caregivers, and community advocates. We have built an operational AI backend with Mandarin and Cantonese voice conversation, already tested with real seniors in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are not building this from a boardroom — we are building it from lived experience, user feedback, and deep respect for the community we serve.
